Dog safety products
Parents go to great lengths to keep themselves and children safe, but some forget to do the same for their dog. However, there are a range of products on the market that can be used ensure your pets safety.
For example, the Hurtta high visibility vest is a great to have when walking your dog in the evening, just as it gets dark. Most dog owners can recall at least one occasion where their dog has just taken off towards a road, after managing to break free from their lead. The vest, which is equipped with reflector strips greatly improves the visibility and therefore safety of your dog.
Another dog safety product worth having is a basic first aid kit. The contents are similar to what is found in most first aid boxes and includes, antiseptic wipes, sting relief pads, sterile eyewash and tweezers to name a few items. If possible, purchase more than one kit keeping one at home and the second kit in the car, so you are prepared for any accidents your pet may have whilst out and about.
If you are really worried about walking your dog in the dark, why not invest in a dog lead coupler and torch. A simple and cheap device that can be clipped on to your dogs lead, the handle has a built in LED torch which can be used to keep your dog visible. The product offers owners a great way of keeping their eye on their dog, whilst they are on a late evening walk.
If the dark evenings do not worry you and you are more concern about the shining sun, you can always buy your dog some doggy sunglasses. Shatterproof lenses and adjustable straps mean the product can fit the shape of any dogs head. They even have an extra wide nose bridge which has been made specifically to fit a dog’s face.
